Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about photoaging and UV damage care, DERMA CLASSIC technology, our company and partnerships.

Photoaging & Products

What is photoaging?

Photoaging is skin aging accelerated by repeated exposure to UV light. It shows up as uneven pigmentation, loss of elasticity, fine lines and rough texture. About 80% of facial skin aging has been attributed to UV exposure.

Do I need this if I already use sunscreen?

Sunscreen needs to be reapplied every two hours to stay effective. Yet in a recent survey, only 15% said they reapply while out walking and 14% during outdoor exercise. The damage from UV that sunscreen missed builds up every day. DERMA CLASSIC does not replace sunscreen - it cares for what sunscreen could not block.

How is it different from conventional after-sun products?

Most after-sun products focus on surface care: cooling the skin and replenishing moisture. DERMA CLASSIC uses dissolving microneedles to boost skin absorption of active ingredients - in a human application test by an accredited institution, skin absorption rose about 1.9× (+90.4%) versus before use after a single application.

When should I use it?

We recommend using it in the evening after outdoor activity, once you have washed your face. It is a two-step routine: apply the patch, remove it after 5–15 minutes, then finish with the gel cream.

How is photoaging different from natural aging?

Natural aging progresses gradually with age, while photoaging results from accumulated UV exposure, concentrates on exposed areas and progresses faster. About 80% of facial skin aging has been attributed to UV exposure, which is why after-care on days you could not fully block UV matters.

How often should I use the microneedle patch?

Use it in the evening on days with outdoor activity. The human application test was conducted with twice-weekly use for two weeks. Adjust the interval to your skin condition.

Technology

How does the microneedle patch work?

Tiny needles made of water-soluble polymers such as hyaluronic acid pass through the stratum corneum, then dissolve in the skin's moisture and release the ingredients they carry. There is nothing to remove and nothing left behind in the skin.

Does it hurt?

The needles are designed to be 300–500μm long, and a human application test by an accredited institution recorded an irritation index of 0.00 (non-irritating).

What does zone-specific needle density mean?

Curved areas such as the eye contour and flat areas such as the forehead have different skin conditions. This technology varies needle length and density by zone within a single patch, securing adhesion on curved areas and delivery volume on flat areas. A patent application for this technology has been filed.

What is bioconversion?

The key compounds in Centella asiatica exist as glycosides with attached sugars, making them large molecules with low skin availability. Enzymes produced by mushroom mycelium remove these sugars, converting them into smaller aglycones. Because the process uses enzymes rather than strong acids or bases, the compounds are not denatured.

What is liquid plasma?

It is a functional solution made by bringing plasma into contact with water, known in scientific literature as PAW (Plasma-Activated Water). It replaces the purified water that makes up 60–80% of a typical cosmetic, giving the base itself a function. Prior studies have reported antibacterial and soothing effects.

What does “about 1.9× absorption” mean?

In a human application test by an accredited institution, skin absorption (Raman spectroscopy) after a single use of the patch was +90.4% versus before use - about 1.9 times. It is a before-and-after self-controlled result on the same participants, not a comparison with competing products.

Company & Expertise

What patents do you hold?

We hold 12 intellectual property rights in total: 5 patents (1 registered, 4 pending applications), 5 trademarks and 2 designs. Registered patent 10-2812430 covers a composition for preventing and improving skin photoaging using Centella asiatica and Agastache rugosa extracts.

Where are the products manufactured?

We do not operate our own factory; production is outsourced to specialized manufacturers. Samjung Cosmetic owns the brand and formulations and directly manages quality specifications and verification.

What certifications do you hold?

We hold ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) certifications, Venture Company confirmation (Innovative Growth type) and recognition of our dedicated R&D department. The Cica Care Gel Cream is recognized by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a dual-functional cosmetic for brightening and wrinkle improvement.

How do you conduct R&D?

We run an in-house dedicated R&D department and conduct joint research under industry–academia cooperation agreements with Chungbuk National University and Konyang University. In 2026 we are carrying out a project under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Startup Growth Technology Development Program (Didimdol).
